Amusingly enough, someone used that word talking to me just a couple hours ago, before I had seen this.

I once had an officemate refer to "the dulcet peals of [person you've met]'s laughter." Needless to say, it stuck in my head. As does the laugh, which is a bit like a donkey braying.
