The WoUtNW is bungalow. Man, that's just fun to say. Bungalow bungalow bungalow.
They say it's from Indo-Aryan bangalo meaning a one-story thatched or tiled house, surrounded by a veranda. Literally "Bengalese," used figuratively for "house in the Bengal style," à la "Cape Cod style", "Florida Cracker style", "Arcachonnaise", or "the Missouri Compromise".
But what happened? Now a bungalow isn't a one-story thatched house, it's 1.50 stories and has a gabled roof. I suppose thatch and gables aren't strictly mutually exclusive, but would you call this a bungalow?

Me neither, even if that is a veranda.
